Discipleship I

Course Description: A survey of the fundamental teachings of the Bible and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Students will receive a biblical understanding about what a Christian believes and why, and be able to explain/share it with others. This class prepares the new believer for baptism and/or church membership. It also reaffirms the faith of long-time believers who desire a review of basic Bible doctrines.

Objectives of the Course:

  • 1. To lead students to the assurance of their salvation in Christ.
  • 2. To teach the biblical foundations of Seventh-day Adventism through Bible marking and chain-referencing key texts by topic.
  • 3. To expose the student to the basics of discipleship-making other disciples, the priesthood of all believers, and the usage of spiritual gifts.
  • 4. To prepare the student for church membership and a life of passionate Christian service that includes reaching lost people and bringing them to Jesus.

Curriculum:   The Bible, and What the Bible Says About..., by Lonnie Melashenko.

Discipleship I is a precursor to Discipleship II, a year-long curriculum designed to help the new member apply their Christian faith into four specific areas: New Life, Christian Discipleship, Personal Ministry, and Christian Fellowship.

To reinforce and practice the heart of Christian discipleship, we will begin each class time with focused prayer for individuals who are not in a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

Discipleship I and Discipleship II will meet in the Junior room upstairs during July & August.

Teachers: Pastor Randy Maxwell, Aileen Sox

Location: Junior Room - Upstairs, July & August
